From beginner to advanced, we have a variety of co-ed power skating and hockey skills classes to choose from. It was a lot tougher than I thought it would be, especially being out in the sun, but I have nothing but positives to take from both camps! I also had the opportunity to go back to Winnipeg for a quick five-day visit. It was an exhausting but amazing five days visiting family and friends, trying to seek out sponsors and seeing Taylor Swift perform LIVE!!!!!!!!!!!!!
My hearts go out to all those affected by the recent flood here in Calgary, fortunately I was not affected but I know many who were. I am so thankful that my friends are all ok. I am also very proud of my brother Matt who working his first real emergency as a City of Calgary Firefighter! I have also signed up for classes in the fall! I am looking forward to pursuing my degree at the University of Calgary! I love sharing my experiences with those willing to read and keep up with my life!
Thank you for the support and I hope you are enjoying these beautiful summer months! Not only is it my time to physically recover, but mental recovery is just as important.
I have spent the past month reflecting the on everything from nutrition, recovery, training and race execution. Then it was finally time to go have some fun! Between snowshoeing, badminton and all sorts of activities at the Talisman Centre I have been keeping active but I have to hold back a bit and remind myself that this is my time to prepare my body for the Olympic season! My mind never stops searching for inspiration, I am continually amazed by other what other athletes are capable of doing and it inspires me to do everything I can to achieve greatness.
The excitement I feel when I think about next season makes me realize that yes; this is what I want to be dedicating everything I have to. I have spent a lot of time creating solutions for the things I need to work on and doing them, rather than just thinking about it. I was once told that I spend so much time on Pinterest looking at great ideas and never actually doing them, and yes there is a lot of truth to that.
So I set some goals and gave myself limits on when to stop looking and start doing! It makes everything more enjoyable. Even though it is April 11th and blizzarding outside…I am not going to try and not let that get me down. Here is a photo from my first ride of the season the day before the storm hit! Getting through exams and the last month of school is making me anxious to go home and spend some time with the family! My days are consisiting of homework, baking mainly easter treats and enjoying the beautiful calgary weather!
Even though I have only been off ice for 3 weeks I have already been working on my summer training goals and preparing for next season! This really turned into a long post..
